Maya is 6 years old today. She is a beautiful little girl with a huge smile. I prayed for that smile. She loved every minute of her birthday....she changed 3 times and wore her birthday hat plus a crown. She took in every minute and I could tell she felt special. This morning she saw a birthday present and asked what it was.....I told her it was a present for her. She didn't even know what it was or really cared, she jumped into my arms and covered my face with kisses. She kept saying thank you over and over. Good friends Mark and Colleen and their family joined us as well as my mom and my sister and her family. When Maya first arrived home she had no use for sweets....well let me tell you that has changed. She ate all of the icing off of the cake and then licked the icing off of her princess figures that were on top of her cake. After we had lunch, ate birthday cake, opened presents, we went and saw the movie Enchanted. The girls had never been to a theatre before. They were a bit frightened at first, but then Maya looked back and saw where the movie was coming from and decided it was a really big T.V. It was a fun day and I asked Maya if she enjoyed her birthday and she grinned and said yes. I am thankful for friends and family who could celebrate it with us.

This weekend was a busy one. Yesterday Maya got her hair done and today is Maya's birthday and we also had the girls dedication today. It was so much fun for the girls to dress up so fancy in their new dresses and show off their new shoes to all who would notice. I can hardly believe that they have been home for almost 3 months and yet it seems they have always been a part of our family. Things are so normal now that it's hard to imagine life without them. It was a special day for all of us. My sister and her family came to the service and so did my mom. What a blessing these girls are to our family.......they are loved and they know it.

Today Maya got extensions put in her hair. A wonderful lady came over to our house and gave up her Saturday to do Maya's hair. She did a fabulous job and Maya sat there all day and watched movies while her hair was being done. Maya was so good....she really wanted her hair done and when it was finished she was so excited. She hugged our dear friend several times and thanked her several times.......she could not stop smiling. Maya looks so good with her new hairdo and I know she feels good about herself. I am so glad she got her hair done.....it was worth seeing the smiles on her face.My mom and I went shopping this past weekend in the states. We took Kyle along so I was allowed to bring back more stuff. We drove down to Great Falls and I think most of Alberta was there too!! Rod stayed behind with the rest of the kids. It was my first time away from the girls and they did great. I talked to them several times on the phone and Rod managed to hold things together while I was gone. When I returned Maya screamed Sam hugged me and Denaye cried.....it was great a welcome home!!

here it is.
We had snow a week ago and this was the first time the girls ever saw it. Sam has been talking about it to them so when they woke up and their was snow on the ground they were quite excited. They all wanted to go ouside and build a snowman. This was the world's smallest snowman.....please see above picture.....they didn't care that there wasn't enough snow to make a big one....they were just excited about it. Denaye now calls snow....snowman. When they were finished.....they were freezing......it was only -1 C. I am not sure if they will like winter or not, but they did enjoy the snow on that day!!!

On our way home from church yesterday....Denaye was obviously annoyed at the level of noise in our van. She very simply and quite loudly said.....Sam you be quiet!!!
I laughed.....Sam didn't!!
Maya is Cinderella
Denaye is Snow White
Sam is Spiderman/Venom

The girls had no idea what we were doing. When they saw other kids dressed up they just started to giggle. They thought it was so funny that all of these kids (themselves included) were walking around the neighbourhood in costumes!! They caught on very quickly to how it all works.....even though neither one of them are a big fan of candy they were intrigued by the whole thing. Sam kept trying to explain to them the drill and how it works. We went over to our church later where they had games and jumping things for them to jump on. They had a lot of fun. Their first Halloween was a success and next year I bet they'll like candy!!The kids carved pumpkins on tuesday. The girls had never seen a pumpkin before and were quite intrigued. When I cut off the top of the pumpkin, Denaye said supper, and Maya took one look at it and siad "no.....it stinks" It was quite funny. Maya was such a good helper. She cleaned out both pumpkins with very little help from anyone. Sam lost interest in that part after the first scoop, but Maya was amazing. They really enjoyed this, but had no idea what it was all about. Trying to explain Halloween to them was difficult. The girls don't have much of a sweet tooth yet, so candy is not a big deal to them, however they love to dress up!!
